How do we know that cats don't already have that state of consciousness that Huxley was talking about? Just because they have no voice to speak of it, doesn't mean that they're not living it every minute of their lives.

"Completely boxed up within himself like this cat is". Interesting comment on the feline perception of the world as opposed to the human. Though some humans obviously think like cats.
