Oliver's mom talks about a job at Bard. His dad goes beep that she's moving "upstate" and he'll never see his kid. Bard is 90 min away from NYC on Metro North - not all that much longer a ride than from her place in Brooklyn to his on the UES. Just sayin'

I was pretty surprised and dissapointed at how Paul tried so fiercely to discourage Bess from taking that job and taking Oliver upstate. I thought the change might be really good for Oliver and both parents. Sometimes perspective really helps clarify priorities and absence CAN make the heart grow fonder, but, most of all things as they were were pretty bad in all kinds of ways.
