I've never been able to figure out why it looks so flat and uninspired. The same DP shot Godzilla and that looked miles better. Joss Whedon made Serenity for $40 million and that looked way more cinematic. Why was River's fight in the bar so much better choreographed and shot than any of Black Widow's action scenes?
Was it because production had to be relatively tight? The extensive use of green-screen to replicate an entire city? I dunnoBen Davis did great work on Age of Ultron, as well as GotG and Doctor Strange, so maybe it was just a matter of the right production team.
