L'Intrieur by a long shot. The complaints I often hear are that the characters were absurd, outlandish and unrealistic, but I felt it was appropriate because Inside is essentially a nightmare portrayed on screen. The violence in Inside is very flamboyant and at times unrealistic but to me it was a bit of a honorary nod to Dario Argento. There's this feeling of mischief from the get-go because there isn't one likable character to root for, and everyone has something sly snarky to say, and it's funny at times. That element, for me, adds a little campiness and makes it even more entertaining. Not to mention La Femme is terrifyingly psychotic and twisted with less sympathy than Michael Myers. The film is a splatter fest of gore but what kept my eyes glued was the unrelenting tension.
Martyrs, to me, was an experiment in making an audience feel like complete garbage. It was an exercise in depressing viewers. It's odd how these 2 are compared because the only thing they share is the language, and that they both fall under 'horror'. It's deliberately sadistic but the message is discordant and bitter (I think Pascal did that deliberately) and you're not horrified or shocked, just heavy and glum.
I suggest you guys check out 7 Days (Les 7 jours du talion) from 2010. It's a French language film (filmed in Quebec) and has that 'torture' theme, but it's one of the most moving horror movies I've seen in a while.

Martyrs, by far. L'Intrieur is too splattery, much more form than substance. Too many stupid characters too.

l'intrieur, hands down. Martyrs wasn't shocking.. besides, somebody could actually try to snatch your baby (and actually succeed in doing so) while nobody would torture young girls for some pseudo-deep philosophical ideas.

I found Martyrs quite a bore actually and was just going for shock tactics but Inside on the other hand had me intrigued the whole time it was just a fun, bloody thriller and the best french horror film!

They're both 1)A and 1)B to me, but Martyrs is my favorite film. This falls to 3,4,or 5. Martyrs all around story was more sound..

Both are good, although I would perhaps give the edge to Martyrs for sheer originality. That being said, I think both are very effective, and they are actually very different movies besides being incredibly violent and disturbing horror movies. Inside is more of a 'survival' movie, and it follows more of a traditional structure but in its genre it is definitely one of the best I have seen. Of course, it is over-the-top and it stretched my suspension of disbelief, but it still managed to really creep me out and make me genuinely feel for the main character.

They are both good horror movies. However, Martyrs is the superior overall film with story and horror effects. I really enjoyed this one as well but thought it was trying to hard to be shockingly bloody and gory. Would watch either again anytime.

Close match-up, but Martyrs. Unfortunately High Tension didn't work for me as i predicted the twist early on, but still twist aside it was inferior to Martyrs/Inside and Frontiers was the worst out of the 4.

Inside. my favorite Horror movie.

i like both but Martyrs is my #1 Horrormovie of all time.

I love both. I had to turn away at less scenes during this. I like Inside just a bit more than Martyrs.

Definitely Martyrs. I greatly enjoyed Inside too, but I feel like it dropped the ball a little towards the end, whereas Martyrs kept me rapt. Both have standout performances from their leads though, it's hard to fault Inside.

Definitely Martyrs, better story and everything seems plausible however it's not the case in L'Intriur no one gets that gory with just an accident its totally stupid.

Martyrs starts out well enough but becomes a total mess very quickly - I found myself very bored by it. I was only shocked by how dull it was.
l'intrieur, on the other hand, had me glued to the screen the entire time. Possibly the most extreme horror movie I've ever watched, and I've watched many. Everything played out perfectly. It told the story in the most brutal and exciting way possible.
