What did you guys think of the transformation of Ponyo, like it was nice it was slow, and also gentle at the same time, there was really no explanation to why Ponyo was transforming back into a fish, and I still wonder to this day why.

She was transforming into a fish because she's a female, and females smell like fish in between the legs.

She was transforming back because her magical energy was running low. Her magic was the only thing keeping her human. And you could tell by the brief transformations earlier in the film that using her powers to fix various things came at a cost.
