<p dir="auto">Usually at the end of similar disaster movies everyone the "hero" or main character associated with him has lived through it.<br />
Like his wife and and any children they have.<br />
It gives us hope or makes us feel good to see they lived through it all even though we may have seen hundreds or even thousands die and changing landscapes and that in some cases life will never be the same again with no return to the normal way things were for them before.<br />
This movie hits ya in the face of how there can be no happy ending for the main protagonist.<br />
Other ones is just an illusion that it is.<br />
There is no illusion to it here which is why it is better.<br />
