He used words, something about the capabilities of the US, something they still have.
On a quick search I found her (the reporter) summary when she talked to her boss about that interview:
But I'll tell you something.
He does have a plan for after the election.
And it's not the long, slow peace process.
No, no, no, no.
Have no idea what you are actually saying here. Perhaps that he raised an eyebrow and you suddenly thought "a-bomb".

"2. Republicans want to nuke everything."
This is rubbish. Irving said nothing like this, neither literally or figuratively, in the film.
Yes he implied that he has sth evil up his sleeve. I immediately thought of an a-bomb but that was just like a reflex. Obviously he wouldnt go that far.
And the reporter understood as well, she said sth about that to her boss. That he has sth hidden for years he wants is eager to finally use.

"1. Only black and brown people come from poor neighborhoods."
Malley cited Finch and Rodriguez as coming from low socio - economic areas. So? There were plenty of other students shown from ethnically diverse backgrounds including (African - American and Mexican) and there was nothing said about the neighbourhoods from which they came.
"2. Republicans want to nuke everything."
This is rubbish. Irving said nothing like this, neither literally or figuratively, in the film. He did say he wanted to win the war. Something wrong with that?
"3. A white educated person is the voice of reason."
Oh really! Pray tell who was it? Malley? Roth? Irving? May be it was Hayes.
My impression was that all of the major characters including Finch and Rodriguez,(your "black and brown people"in the debate) at different times during the film were all the voices of reason and made pertinent and apt comments.
"4.All wars are Vietnam."
Regarding the "new strategy discussed by both Irving and Falco, Roth drew a parallel to a similar unsuccessful strategy used during the Vietnam war, which Irving didn't try to deny. He just said the new strategy would be more successful. Apart from Malley saying he served in Vietnam, I'm not sure what you are getting at here. Critics of the Coalition's campaign in Afghanistan sometimes label it as a modern Vietnam, as was sometimes said during Russia's earlier Afghanistan adventure, which some authorities cite as being the genesis of the Taliban.
I don't think this was a great film but I think it threw up a range of questions to its audiencenot necessarily answers.
I really don't think it was aiming to pander to stereotypes.
The problem's with all of us who do nothing.
