When I first heard about his resignation, the first thing that came to my mind was an average joe employee who is fed up with go-nowhere job and wants to move on to other things. Thus, some “un-robotic” feelings/behavior. The same can be said for other comedic actors, such as cash cow Ted Danson who coincidentally also left “Cheers” for the same reason as Jim. Of course, I can easily picture Ted being bored and somewhat frustrated with playing Sam Malone, because that character was an alpha, every day man, etc. Sheldon, however, didn’t have those qualities or emotions, and was therefore unintentionally condescending to the point where his profession unlike Howard’s was worthy and that he was the best at physics. You could never imagine him wanting to step away from that. So I think it’s safe to say that Jim Parsons was typecast, because I can’t imagine him going postal on someone on the street after being called “Sheldon” or told “bazinga” repeatedly, or even Jim calmly saying “Look, that’s not my name” with slight annoyance. Ted Danson, absolutely, despite never hearing bad things about him. Does anyone else have those vibes about Jim?
