Remember when everybody was saying that Conan bumping George Lopez's show was nothing like when
NBC
wanted to bump Conan's "Tonight Show" to midnight in favour of a Jay Leno show at 11:35? Remember when George said he was fine with "Lopez Tonight" shifting to midnight to accommodate "Conan", and how Conan's popularity was probably going to result in better ratings for George's show?
Please start listening to this at 14:40 and find out how things really went down at
TBS
[EDIT] Unfortunately, the channel where this Howard Stern interview could be heard is now terminated. What Lopez said is TBS had impressed on him how much they wanted Conan to come there, and wanted him to get on board with the idea of turning over his time slot to Conan, and that's when he called Conan to tell him he was okay with it. Lopez also made the point that the ratings for "Lopez Tonight" had actually been better than what Conan was eventually getting when he bumped Lopez's show.
