This post is one huge spoiler so I'll just say it here instead of blacking out the whole thing. Rant warning, too.
Why only two episodes? The show stops dead in its tracks, it did not feel like a series finale at all.
Everyone was majorly out of character: Lynley sleeping with his godson's sister (ie somebody he knew since she was a baby). Not one, not two, but three well-established police characters colluding to conceal evidence. Oh and that secret second post-mortem? Is that a thing? Didn't know pathologists did post mortems on the side as personal favours to friends. A repeat of the choking over a railing that got Lynley suspended in season 4, but miraculously everyone's back to work as usual by episode 2??
Seems like, knowing the show was cancelled, the sixth season was very unpolished and ludicrous plot devices were used. (I haven't read the books, so for all I know, the fault lies there.) Sad, for an otherwise brilliant show. I'll gladly rewatch seasons 1 to 5, but skip six. (I'm also Canadian so the series finale hit a bit too close to home, I remember that gruesome case like yesterday and Lynley very closely followed the true story.)
