Several years ago I watch what was then the entire series of Inspector Lynley, and recently started again. But I got so tired of the relationship hassles with Lynley and Helen that I got fed up and quit watching. I guess I just really didn't like Helen to begin with. Other British detective series may have glimpses into the lives of the main characters, but it is not part of the plot. I prefer the mystery of the plot ala Morse, Taggart, Lewis, Prime Suspect, etc.
