I rented this movie back in 2009 via Redbox and thoroughly enjoyed
Kevin Bacon's very convincing performance as Lt. Col. Mike Strobl.
He did the role justice and was totally believable and yet it was
a bittersweet film knowing about the death of Chance Phelps along
with being reminded of so many other deaths of our young service
members in the Iraq war. He has now played a USMC officer twice
in his career, first as Capt. Jack Ross in A Few Good Men and
now as real life Lt. Colonel Mike Strobl in Taking Chance. The
Marine Corps must be so proud to have had Kevin Bacon portraying
one of the few, the proud, the Marines! A great movie too!

Kevin Bacon is my favourite "unsung hero" type of actor. People rarely talk about how great he is and he always seems to be overshadowed by some other actor (like in Mystic River). The fact is, he was the best actor in the film. He has that uncanny ability to slightly change his facial expression and change your thoughts and emotion with just that tiny move. He's brilliant. He was perfect for this.

Yes, he did! He was the perfect choice, imoa masterful performance. I'm confident the lady director's Dad thought so too. On Memorial weekend, 2 hours watching this reverent reminder before all the beer, barbeque and boat rides.
