It's self-evidently true that King's positions on the categorical immorality and unjustness of segregation were entirely derivable from 100% secular arguments, he used the "authority" of scripture to add another layer to his criitiques, thereby forcing his opponents to work even harder to counter him; and also drawing NEW proponents into the civil rights movement ,those who were called by the Word.
