This show would’ve been a ratings behemoth if it didn’t have the goofy melodrama of the adult timeline. It legit feels like to disconnected stories with different writers and completely different characters.
Shauna in particular is nothing lie.. herself. I mean she is evil in both timelines but the older one is way warmer whereas the young one is very cold all the time, much more psychopathic. The disconnect is bizarre.
The same story plays out for the other characters with maybe misty being an exception. Although she looks way hotter as adult which makes it seem like a different character
Stop.

This was always the point though, to show how trauma of that caliber would continue post rescue. I agree there are disconnects but its also a different place (Canadian wilderness vs NJ suburbs) and time (25 years between)…and despite the disconnect there are still parts of the characters that are very much the same. Could things be done better? maybe, probably, but it's no easy task to coordinate 2 characters illustrating extreme trauma and separated by 25 years. I think they are doing a pretty good job. There are things in the series that really bothered me from a narrative stand point, there are parts where I think they made underwhelming or even erroneous choices and ball drops, but overall I really enjoy the show.
