that signifies the end of a scene. It's so annoying and put me off the programme as I sat waiting for it, wondering when it will come again.
Pity, as I thought it was an ok show.

Ah, that explains the noise theninteresting.
I wish they had just used the real sound of jail door closing instead.
I will have to give the show another go though, try and get the jail door image into my head when I hear that soundit might not be so distracting that way.

Those of us "on the other side of the pond" kinda like that sound. According to Dick Wolf be was trying to mimic the sound of a jail door closing. Successful or not, it became a big part of L&O here.
