Soapish melodrama is what L&O has always offered up and this show is actually pretty tame compared to, say, L&O:SVU which was stuffing Stabler's family drama down our throats for seasons at a time. Women and minorities are often part of the cases but so are average middle classers and self-employed business owners and a whole gamut of others.
