I assumed along with most people that the U.S. version of 'Law and Order' is the original and the UK version is a remake, however, this isn't necessarily the case. There was a mini series on U.K. TV in 1978 called 'Law & Order' described on this site as a: "Four-part drama series about the British judicial system, dealing with an investigation presented from the perspectives of the police force, the criminal, the solicitor and the prison system." I found this info purely by chance but I thought it worth mentioning

Was this a documentary or a drama for telly? It would be wonderful to find this programme on DVD, no matter its format.
