Also the warden should have mentioned earlier that prisoners don't have access to time.
Therefore they could have then brought Clyde his meal at 12pm or 1230pm or maybe 1245pm and lied saying its 100pm.
Although Clyde would have still killed his cell mate they could have at least saved Bill Reynolds life.
