The 10 year gap does make sense on its own because digging all those tunnels and getting all the equipment he needed would take a long time. Also he wanted to start it off by sabotaging the execution of the home invader, and that event didn't happen until 10 years later.

seriously. this was a guy who made a career about circumventing the law and he was going to stand there like mr innocence lost when he sees the DA "shake hands" w/ the killer? come on.

You would also think he would have a better understanding of how flawed the criminal justice system is. He really shouldn't have been so baffled by it the way he was in the opening.

If you mean when he was a family man, never in a million years would he have expected what went down in his home. It was a random act of violence. A home invasion.
