Since this movie tries hard to deliver a message even though it's basically a typical horror flick I was wondering this:
The students arrive at the station with Bart. Bart was the first one to get infected when he was bitten. He is the black guy of the group. And the next one was Ling - asian. The whites got infected last (with one survivor).
So, is this a conincidence or significant in the context of the movie's message? That it will hit third world countries (African) first and then "2nd world" countries next (Asian)and finally the "first" world?

I was talking about the message of the movie. This has a strong scaremongering tone to it "Hey, humans, stop the beep now or you will wake up some nasty things". This typically works by implying it could hit you, the audience, too. I just strikes me as odd that the first victim of our group is black (which by Hollywood standards stands for "filthy 3rd world countries"), the second victim is asian (which by Hollywood standards would be "aspiring countries but, you know, still filthy") and only then the caucasians are hit. It is also noteable that the asian is female and has sex with a caucasian you know, how Hollywood thinks every second asian woman is a disease spreading whore.
And while we are at it, the first caucasian victim is Federico Fulce, read, someone european (and he was also a dick). While the last remaining where the americans.
So, what I am saying is, that we basically have an allegory of how Hollywood thinks disasters happen, third world screws it up and then the domino effect kicks in hitting people up the pecking order (again, according to Hollywood).

If you saw the final sequence you would realise that none of that is true.
