I loved this movie for the great performances, the poignant story line, the fractious interplay between the characters, but my favorite scene was when Dermot Mulroney got his comeuppance for "messin" with the 14 year old girl, the Cherokee woman witnessing this byplay and grabbing a shovel and walking up behind Dermot and commencing to bash him the thing. Mulroney always seems to play a jerk or a blowhard or an ahole. No one deserved that beating more than he did. LOL!
The moral? Don't piss off a Cherokee woman.

Actually, though. she wasn't Cherokee. She'd mentioned that she was Cheyenne.
