Watching this movie was like looking at a mirror. Vi's controlling nature took me back to the root of the majority of my issues with my mother. Watching Vi's family unravel felt like home. I grew up in a house full of 10ppl, my mother and stepfather fought like children for years. They've been married for over 20 years, still together. My mother cut me off after I told her about past sexual abuse I experienced from my step father. Crazy thing, she always knew. We've always been dysfunctional and I saw myself in Julia's character, like Barb and Vi, me and my mom will never have a relationship again. This film made me cry and now I'm just reflecting. Powerful acting, seriously.
