Christina Ricci inhabited that role. She is Wednesday.
Her performance was so good that in Addams Family Values, they gave her lead role basically. They sidelined poor Pugsly in favour of her.
In fact, that entire casting of the 90s movies were infallible. No one can top Angelica Houston as Morticia.
Raul Julia was an unconventional casting at the time, but he embodied that role. No one comes close.
