I love this show so much, have seen every episode and bought the DVD box set. I was just thinking recently, I don't think even one episode had any of the characters on the NYC subway? Can anyone recall? If so, I'm surprised that they did not use it as more of a backdrop. In this show, NYC plays a character in itself. And the NYC subway system is an integral part of being a New Yorker.

Yah, roadblocks due to filming can also be annoying.
But some filming can be revelatory.

I used to work near the courthouse in Downtown Manhattan. While it's fun to see how shows/movies get made, it's a huge pain for those of us who are trying to get to work or run errands. Dark Knight and The Good Wife filmed near my office and it would shut down everything. It's a big inconvenience for everyone not involved. A subway that isn't in working order or subway traffic gets people upset, I can't imagine that they would want to inconvenience that many people on the regular.
