"Carson gave other comedians a chance to host like he did with Jay, and Jay stabbed him in the back. No wonder Leno won't allow guest hosts. He is afraid of his comeuppance."
Hah. Carson only had guest hosts because he didn't want to work much. He only did 3 nights a week, with Jay on Monday and a rerun another night. Jay is fine with working 5 days a week for most of the year. Hell, his 10pm show was slated to do 46 weeks of original shows. I can find no fault with a man who likes to do his job.

Leno will be remembered as one of the worst comedians of all time. He has made enemies of virtually all his peers. The only reason Seinfeld sides with him is because Jerry knows his stale brand of comedy only works on the type of people that root for Jay. Since Seinfeld ended, the main writer was able to hit them out of the park with Curb Your Enthusiasm, while the best the overpaid hack has done was Bee Movie.
If Jay was getting good ratings on his 10pm show, then why were the affiliates mad at his lead-in?
Seriously, how am I supposed to cheer for a guy that used scabs during the writers strike when his peers paid for their staff out of their own pocket? How am I supposed to cheer for a guy that claims he had nothing to do with it when he has a history of under-handed tatics dating back to Carson? How am I supposed to like this miserable class-less jerk when he is trying to portray himself as a victim? Also, he steals material from better shows.
I sure hope Megafauna doesn't delete my post. I think he is working for Leno, he is on every board trolling Conan fans, like he has nothing else to do but watch these boards and post lies.
Carson gave other comedians a chance to host like he did with Jay, and Jay stabbed him in the back. No wonder Leno won't allow guest hosts. He is afraid of his comeuppance. I can only hope that what comes around goes around. Perfect ending? Conan gets his own successful show and Jay gets tossed to the curb by a scheming Jimmy Fallon who convinces NBC that Leno's time is over.
That will be the day I actually root for Fallon.

What do you mean by "Leno NEVER had his own"?
I think the meaning was "Leno NEVER had his own show
before
The Tonight Show".

What do you mean by "Leno NEVER had his own"?
I'm assuming you mean "Leno NEVER had his own" show - if that's the case, what are you talking about?
Leno had the Tonight Show for 18 years.
How does Leno have the Tonight Show for 18 years somehow classify him for NOT having a show?
Give a show any title you want, but when you're the only host of a show, how is that not you're show??
I'm SO confused by your logic. Help us understand

"Except Conan lost to Ferguson most of the time."
"Most of the time"? Not true. Ferguson did beat Conan a few times in 2008. But from the time Ferguson first started in 2005 to 2008, Conan beat him. Then Conan started winning again in 2009 because the show was ending.

Don't forget that Jay was the permanent guest host on Johnny's show for several years before getting the full time gig. He would host one day a week every week and then every month or two, Johnny would give him a full week. So when Jay took over the Tonight Show he inherited a lot of Johnny's fans who were already familiar with Jay in that time slot. Even still he placed second to Letterman who moved from 12:30 to 11:30 and switched networks. It took Jay several years to take the lead away from Dave. Now Conan moves from 12:30 down to 11:30 and now he's going up against Letterman instead of Ferguson, a much different contest. Hey, maybe Conan won't find an audience at 11:30, maybe he will. Maybe they should have given him 2 or 3 years to see. And if Jay Leno had retired, they would have. The only reason they're bumping Conan is because Leno's show is also failing and they don't know what else to do with him other than put him back at 11:30. It's really NBC's fault for taking two #1 shows and turning them both into #2.

No show can immediately start out of the gate at 4 million viewers. 11:30 is a whole new world and it takes a long time to build up an audience no matter who you are.

Leno actually INCREASED his numbers in prime time.
He had 5 million viewers at the Tonight Show and about 5.5 at his prime time show.
It's just that the expectations for prime time are much higher. He would've had to have gottten at least 7 to 8 million viewers and a 18-49 rating of over 2.0 to stay at prime time.
NO COMEDIAN HAS EVER DONE THAT!! NOT EVEN JOHNNY CARSON!
WELCOME BACK JAY!!
