aside from presenting themselves as meat on heels for predators to gawk at, they are also there so the audience can be beaten over the head with the contrast of their safe, fake, simulated world with the real, rough, jungle then men exist in.
this creates a lot of drama when those worlds collide. they need each other so they work it out.
younger people probably don't enjoy watching this as much as male boomers.
the thing is, they're all playing roles. sheridan just knows how to glorify the male side better, so we see this as weak writing for females.
the women on the show actually run things and the men are meat for the grinder.
and when the men die, we also get to see how various women deal with it. the young mexican girl and demi moore's character.
anyways, regarding the daughter specifically, sheridan beats us over the head with her hotness* so we can see that's all she uses and needs to get by in life at the moment. Also, when every character on the show constantly confirms she is hot, that'll get the audience to believe it as well.
