A Deadly State of Mind is the best because Columbo really had to think outside the box. He sets up the Dr so brilliantly and breaks him down-"that man was blind" and having him read from the magazine.

Suitable For Framing.
Columbo had it all thought out here. And with the creepy Ross Martin thinking he had fooled everyone was just great.
When Martin starts shouting, "You touched those paintings just now when I wasn't looking! You saw him do it, didn't ya?"
And then Columbo pulls his hands out of his pocket and he's wearing gloves. It's like he was saying, "You Dumbass. Just shut up. You're caught. Deal with it."

I like how he caught Dr. Kepple with the same technique that Kepple used to murder his victim in Double Exposure
As for the way DVD's character was caught, it did seem to be a long shot that he'd both recognize and go for the camera. I guess they thought if he was in a situation where he'd become desparate or panicked he'd trip up. I think the chances are greater that he'd simply ask to see the crime scene photos to prove that the photo had been reversed or the other photo that Columbo had placed in that group of photos he'd taken at the funeral where DVD pointed out that it wasn't a good picture.
Jesus is the Son of God and my Lord and savior. Pretty cool.

Yes good one because like Deadly State of Mind, Columbo had to go through an elaborate setup.
Another is the episode with Dick Van Dyke but DVD picking the camera was a tremendous stroke of luck.
