So the opening episode for the half season wasn't 'awful', just awfully bland and redundant. More treading water from a show that acts as if it has an hours worth of TRUE content to be spead thinly thru 6 episodes.
However, this I could kinda forgive if the show had directors and cinematographers that could make it look good- as was the case with much of AMC's Mad Men. But Walking Dead has really mediocre directors, and godawful cinematography. And even the action and VFX is largely very tired and unexciting these days.
The show makes a shedload of money, but it seems as if AMC wants to invest none of this profit back into the show at all. In its current state it has to be one of the most tired popular TV shows playing.
