The universe might a hologram, if that helps you on your quest of understanding.
Study reveals substantial evidence of holographic universe
http://sciencebulletin.org/archives/9834.html
It sounds crazy, but the hologram idea started from the need to resolve paradoxes related to loss of information in black holes. Treating the interior of black holes as a projection of their 2-D surface event horizons resolved them.
Physicists later realized that the entire universe could me modeled that way. The model makes some predictions about the cosmic microwave background, among others, and the recent study seemed to support it (except on the same wide scales where previous models struggle too).
The holographic model makes other predictions, but those haven't been tested yet.

Drain a nearby lake or pond and examine the stuff you find at the bottom covered with green slime old tires, beer and whisky bottles, etc. And you might cut your hand on some of it. You can't do that with a computer matrix.

Pull the back seat out of several older cars and look at the stuff you find there; a yellow comb with a half-melted piece of hard candy stuck to it, and old business card to somewhere that no longer exists, a paint-chipped Hot Wheels car, a sticky penny with a paper clip stuck to it stuff like that. There will be a random assortment of stuff under each seat. No computer could do that.
Anything else?

Evolution, according to Darwin himself, fails to explain not only mankind, but most all life on earth. The 'slow, gradual' changes which should be evident yet are absent in the fossil records led only to the 'missing link' BS that scientists coughed up. And not only homo sapiens, but essentially every example of flora and fauna in existence.
Of course, even in the face of such destructive evidence, the general scientific community stick to the Theory of Evolution like flies on beep going right against the scientific method itself, making them guilty of unyielding faith in the face of actual fact just as the religion morons they so often belittle and ridicule.

I watched a documentary a couple of years ago that talked about whether god was real or not. They kind of combined religion with science in trying to explain so. They talk about how everything from the universe to planets and life has an intelligent design to it. So intelligent that it couldn't have naturally happened by itself. So if it didn't naturally happen, who created everything?
They also mentioned something about the world could possibly a matrix like simulation.

Einstein offered an explanation with General Relativity.
Mass/energy distorts space-time and distorted space-time affects the motion of mass/energy.
Most of the models are very mathematical and aren't easy to put into words.
Relativity still hasn't been unified with quantum physics, but the holographic model might be promising in that regard as well.
Bottom line even if they never explain everything, their models often work. We'd struggle to send probes to investigate the solar system or even have functional GPS from our satellites if they were far off the mark.

More puzzles that only spawn either more puzzles or more 'solutions' based on flimsy assumptions which the physicist usually then adheres to blindly ego often gets in the way of admitting ignorance. They are too busy acting all self-important chasing such pointless garbage rather than trying to figure out the basics. Ex: Why does gravity work?

Most physicists love it when observations or experiments don't fit a theory. It shows them that there's something wrong with the model, and so it gives them more puzzles to solve.

Scientists are retards though. They are constantly pulling crap out of their asses to 'explain' their theories and/or equations, instead of simply saying "I don't have a clue.". How are protons able to clump together inside an atom's nucleus? Well, uh that's 'nuclear force' that somehow does it and the neutrons. Which are neutral, so they shouldn't do anything at all really
What's this? The universe doesn't act the way it should? Well, that's because there's this 'dark matter' stuff that you can't see, but it makes all the equations line up so it's real and we're not wrong
I want some Cheetos now.

It's a weird idea, for sure, but so is quantum mechanics and it's stood up to experimental scrutiny for many decades.

The "hologram" would be real, of course i.e., not like an intangible photographic hologram. It doesn't really imply that someone is at the controls and programming everything inside either.
On the other hand, this physicist interviewed by Neil Degrasse Tyson was kind of disturbed by what he found in his string theory studies:
