Do we know if he's dead? I mean he could have broken every bone in his body and survived right?

Definitely, especially since he was the second male lead. When they were scanning the beach at the end, I expected to see him, not more eggs.

I was quite surprised when Smith
was tossed off into the sea, and was gone from that point on. I would have thought that having him swim back onto the beach at the end of the film, perhaps cradling a Grabling, would have been a funny thing to have at the end of the credits. Anyone else surprised that his demise was in no way revisited at the end?

I'm going with Smith being dead unless he landed in the water.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could have broken every bone in his body and survived. But I think it's far more likely he ended up a sticky red smear on the side of someone's house or whatever he eventually landed on.
