I always do this with foreign movies I like, it's a fun mental exercise. For some reason, although I suspect because of the movie Beerfest, I felt like the guys from Broken Lizard could do a good version of this movie set in America. I picture it set somewhere off the North Carolina coast too. How about you?

They should remake it as an It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia special. Not a neccessary remake, but it would be hilarious.
How much s**t is there on the menu and what beep flavour is it?

Why would an American Version be needed???
Exactly! This works so well because it satirizes (whilst simultaneously holding it in esteem) the Irish pub culture, which doesn't exist in the same way in the USA. It'd be kind of like saying we need the Irish to remake The Searchers.

Doesn't matter. Any Hollywood pitch meeting on the subject will be screwed by the guy in the corner who says, "I think we can get Sandler."
Then some 20-year bimbo will be the girl, David Spade will be Paddy, Kevin James will be the priest, Chris Rock will be the bartender, etc., etc.
And featuring Dwayne The Rock Johnson as the voice of the creature!

Broken Lizard came to mind right away when I saw the topic. As for location I think somewhere in Rhode Island would work really well.

Oregon works too, I thought of the Outer Banks after vacationing there this year, looks like the sort of place that becomes a ghost town in the off season. I really think this movie would adapt well to an American version, something about needing to stay drunk to stay alive just sounds like it would play well here.

Broken Lizard - Good call. Steady pay-attention humor without the shove it down your throat gags and prat-falls of most American comedy.
The location? I'm with you, Outer Banks or maybe an Oregon community of a failed fishing/logging village.
