This movie had zero chance of making money no matter how good it is.
-But it was a terrible movie as a film too. Regardless of the political or religious overtones, the film making aspect of it was bland and generic. Nothing was that well done, and it really wasn't even worth watching. Boring writing, phoned in acting, generic directing, awful cinematography/set design/lighting, etc.
Like I said, no aspect of it was that well done

I just watched it, I thought it was a really good movie.
It failed for 3 apparent reasons:

Religious tones. Mass audiences and especially critics don't like Religious characters in movies.

Sex, Cursing, and Violence. This pushed away potential Christian audiences. (lol, the irony of this considering The Bible itself.)

Africans. The sad truth is, most people don't care about the situation in Africa.
This combination basically eliminated a target audience.
Just wanted to repost your post because it was my thoughts but written better than I could. This movie had zero chance of making money no matter how good it is.

Not sure, but it's a real shame because - regardless of how factually accurate it is - it's still a very good film. I suspect it made more money on the small screen, especially after the Kony video became a YouTube sensation.
