The acting in this movie is really good. It helps that the screenplay delivers at least 3 well written, fully dimensional characters.
Anyone in LA know the location of where they filmed the tunnel and neighborhood?
I'm curious because when Callie goes out running, the area looks pretty nice yet when the cop talks about it he makes it seem as safe as South Central during the riots.

Pretty shallow if that's all you took away from it. The movie itself really isn't very good, but the actors' physical appearance is of zero importance.
There are 8.2 billion people in the world. 8.19 billion of them have never heard of and don't give a fuck about Charlie Kirk. Get over it.

Of course the characters were "fully dimensional" they were in over-weight.

The commentary on the DVD mentions it was filmed at the Director's apartment in Glendale.
As for the roughness of the neighborhood, I think that was just a plot device for the story. It was sort of implied that the neighborhood got worse on the other side of the tunnel.
Hey lookI won an award for just showing up! Yay!!!

He talks about how dangerous the neighborhood is because of the high amounts of break-ins and missing people.
