it seemed a lot more obvious, to me, when he leaves the house and asks trish if she's alright, and she replies yes, WE'RE alright. that, and the scene after the first break in when the cop comes onto her a lot harder about moving out of the house. i think those scenes kinda gave it away that he was the father

That's exactly what I surmised. They had been a secret couple for awhile, just waiting for the seven years to be up. Once her husband was declared dead, they could go 'public' with their love. Trish was secretive to Callie about the baby daddy.

Just watching the movie now and had the same question. I missed the first five minutes of the movie so thought maybe they mentioned it then. She did say to the cop in the car that he would be involved with the baby so that made me think it was his but they were just going to go out on their first date the night the husband came home so confusing.

All I heard in reference to the baby was her saying something along the lines to the fat cop "I appreciate you being there for me, looking out for me. And you'll be involved with the baby all I can."
So I wasn't sure if he was the dad for certain, or just a wannabe stand-in guy that was helping her out.
