I wanted to punch the fat kid and the kid with glasses. Especially when the kid with glasses starting preaching moral.

Obnoxious spoilt brats are a staple of Spielberg films and this is a Spielberg tribute.

Exactly and preaching about right or wrong because this is a kids movie so lets teach the audience annoying lessons. Bla bla bla.

The only thing worse than the young actors was the dialogue they had to deliver:
"He's too stoned to drive!"
"Drugs are bad!"
"What kind of gun is that?"
"We're gonna die!"
and on and on and on

I am always amazed at the number of people that have no tolerance for children.
I thought all the young actors did a fine job. I've known kids like that.

Yeah JJ Abrams was intentionally trying to annoy the audience. Most child actors are annoying, plain and simple.

Yes, they were kind of annoying. Which is obviously what Abrams was going for. Most kids are annoying, if you hadn't noticed.

Definitely. Not only were their performances annoying, but (maybe it was just the audio recording in general) their voices were annoying to listen to. They were either too loud and obnoxious or so quiet and whispery you couldn't hear anything they were saying.
That and the writing in some scenes was spotty, the kids sounded more like adults than the adults did most of the time, in particular the scene where the main boy argues with his father about Alice and her father.
