Going by IMDB release dates, I have seen 41 2016 films. My top 10:

1. Finding Dory- loved it even more than the first. Beautiful, charming and fun.
2. Moonlight- excellent performances and a powerful, moving film
3. La La Land- Emma Stone is so charming and beautiful in this film. Just magical and delightful.
4. Hacksaw Ridge- Andrew Garfield is fantastic and the battle scenes are really well directed.
5. The Neon Demon- Elle Fanning is so sexy in this movie. Such a fantastic score and excellent cinematography, a bold, visionary, shocking, erotic, disturbing, and brilliant movie.
6. Arrival- a smart, artful sci-fi film with heart, brains and soul.
7. Zootopia- really entertaining, cute, fun and funny
8. Moana- wonderful animation and great storytelling
9. Birth of a Nation- powerful, thrilling, and well acted
10. Hail Caesar- cleverly written, well acted, and entertaining

In no order:
Hell or High Water - excellent cast and performances
Sully - excellent film, great Hanks performance
In a Valley of Violence - I'm a huge Ethan Hawke fan
Hands of Stone - I actually saw both Duran/Leonard fights on closed circuit, Duran is portrayed as a real POS in his personal life in this flik
Mechanic-Resurection - Typical Statham actioner
Free State of Jones - McConaughy has done better
Magnificent 7 (reboot) OK, not great
Tarzan (reboot) forgettable

Managed to watch quite a few movies in 2016 unfortunately most of them were disappointing. The few I would recommend
Hell or High Water - Bank robbery movie set in Texas, solid story and performances. 7/10
Hunt for the Wilderpeople - Manhunt movie set in the New Zealand bush, might not be great for a US audience, the dry comedy style is probably better suited to Aussie folk. 7/10
Train to Busan - South Korean zombie movie. Solid story and some original zombie ideas/action sequences. 7/10
Not a great quality movie year for me but I'm yet to see Arrival and Manchester by the Sea which I'm hoping are good.
