I kept hoping it would become as grandiose as the film makers intended. It didn't. Just an unusual path for finding the love of your life story. Not bad, certainly not remarkable. Lively is lovely, and I love the actress that played Ellis sister. But she had a very small role.

Only insecure idiots who care more about bragging and worry about their 'image' would say something so stupid.

My "man card" got punched by being able to enjoy watching the stunning Blake Lively stroll around for a few hours. And then the inclusion of just a little bit of sci-fi with Von Lehmann's theory just sealed the deal.

UhI made it through this film not once, but three times! Twice with my twin nieces!
And not only that, but I've watched the special features, including "Style Throughout the Ages" and "A Love Story for the Ages"!
Granted the plot wasn't the best and could've been much better. But, the cinematography and score alone more than made up for that in my opinion. Visually it was just exquisite!

From a female who mostly hated this movie: a real man doesn't need YOU to approve of his taste in movies, OP. A real man doesn't give a sh!t what little brats with machismo on the brain think of him. A real man will pass his time however the fnck he likes, and own it. A real man will scoff at the concept of "man card" because he knows that HE defines masculinity, not the other way around.

And now my defense THIS time in agreement with the above! Thanks for being part of my legion.. You'd on don't have to to be a gay guy or a girl to enjoy this unique story with more than chunks and dollops and lumber logs (inspired by your posting) of story twists.. I have it on Amazon.com, and also saw it in the theaters. AND ADELINE-I mean, Blake Lively, looks downright GORGEOUS, especially the famous movie poster when she looks at her leading man behind the film title.

And just to make it equal I am straight guy and enjoy the romantic and surreal drama of this and the surprises. But I';m glad to see a woman that breaks the stereotype.. It allows us straight guys to like it (assuming you're straight)/
(Though, no problem with the characters or cast, I do, and this is in reference to seeing Adeline's loving sister, get a bit freaked out when a sibling (Ellen Burstyn as Flemming) as Adeline's sister stays aging. Maybe she should have been the same age all the time

The DAY I TURN in my MAN card, chilvr, Original Poster, and everyone, IS the DAY a MAD MAX or a POPEYE live action is remade with Mad Max or Popeye with a AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION!!!!!! THAT kind of film makes ME, especially if dragged..THAT's what makes ME turn in MY man card.
I actually loved the film's laid-back, surreal tale of an ageless woman, but to finsh this, yeah, I admit, it's rather hard for my fellow alpha males to sit through it.

You realize this wasn't a documantary right? But other than your lack of liking anything romantic you sound like a real catch. Lucky man out there somewhere.

Yeah ok, It's just so unlikely it's hard to remain attached to the story, I guess that's how movies are made though, it wouldn't be an awesome tale without extremely unlikely events liking together to form the story.

Have you ever heard of suspension of disbelief? It's one of those things that makes fiction enjoyable like LOTR, Star Wars, Casablanca, Singing in the Rain.
