You took all the movies out of my mouth that I thought of. Picking my brain I can also think of The Truman show/ Ed TV, Saving Private Ryan/ A Thin Red Line, Million Dollar Baby/ Cinderella Man, No Strings Attached/ Friends with Benefits. Some are a little of a stretch but I think they are good comparisons

Actually Mirror, Mirror was by far the better movie. SWATH was all CGI and the godawful wooden acting of Ms. Stewart. I found it tedious and poorly written. MM was funny as well as dramatic.

Not to seem as if I'm putting down 'Mirror, Mirror', I haven't seen the movie and I don't intended to but 'SWATH' will pass the domestic box office total of 'MM' today or tomorrow. Numbers like that 'speak' for themselves.

Happens at least once a year. Mainly because screenplays get passed around from studios and they may pass on the original but like the premise enough to hire their own writers to throw something together.

I know Spider-Man is copyrighted but all copyright aside I think you now what I mean. Snow White is been done several times with the 1930's disney version being the most popular but its just strange to have two movies based on the same character coming out in the same year I dont think thats ever happened before atleast as far as American Cinema goes?

No Strings Attached and Friends With Benefits
Proud to say I missed both of those.
I thought it was funny that after (the excellent) Black Swan the two main actresses, Portman and Kunis, then went and made essentially the same (trashy) film.
I can only assume this sort of of romcom is a guarenteed payday as it does nothing for the credibility of the actresses involved.
