I don't think so. Those episodes were already filmed so they will no doubt be aired at some point.
My understanding is that Josh will be a semi regular partner but the producers intend to mix in other people throughout the season. I interpret this as the producers searching for new a cast while still cranking out episodes. It could just be the producers trying to stir up conflict by having someone new who Grady wont trust which will lead to arguing that the producers seem to crave.

Uh, no, he's not Australian; he's a Kiwi from New Zealand. I've been to NZ and they don't like it when they are mistaken for Aussie's. There's a bit of a rivalry between the two countries.

I thought the exact same thing. I am a bit confused as well, I was really looking forward to seeing that guy start a fire with ice. But I really like the Australian guy so far.

I missed the first 20 minutes of the season premier, so perhaps I missed something? But one thing that I am confused about is the new format with regards to the partners? At the end of last season, the new season previews alluded to there being a revolving partner format.

lists it as 8.1. Who listed it as Season 6 Episode 14? I know IMDB has a weird idea of where the seasons are divided.

I realize this is just nitpicking, but:
I watched "Croatian Castaway" and it was listed as Season 6 Episode 14. So rather than a new season, this is the second half of season six. Cable can be funny about the way they list their episodes though.
Bottom line: Yay, Dual Survival is back!

Been watching the marathon all day and finally saw a promo. Both IMDB and Brighthouse have updated their schedules (since last night) to show a new episode on the 15th.

My DVR is showing the same thing Purk.
Although I am also getting the Dual Survival: Survival Guide in the listings just like Rick.

My DVR has the following description for s08e01:

The DVR shows on 2016-06-15 that it will record Dual Survival for 60 minutes.
Edit: Are you in the U.S.? If not, maybe the season premiere is being delayed.

I haven't seen any promos for a new season and I checked a couple schedules (IMDB and my cable provider) and don't see any new episodes. I did notice that some are now listing last season, the one with Grady and Bill, as being titled "Dual Sutvival: Survival Guide."

True. For me personally anyway, Matt still worked in that role for the simple reason that some of his suggestions really produced some unusual and often hilarious reactions from Joe. And of course, Joe could never get under his skin, so they sort of had that Sgt Carter/Gomer Pyle vibe going on, and that just had to be sheer torture for a guy like Joe
No drama in that pairing, but to me it was better than drama, because it was usually pretty funny to watch.

Yes, I happened to catch the previews for the new season just the other night as well, and am looking forward to it. From the previews, it looked like one of the guest survivalists was already sort of ripping into Grady.
The new format might actually be a recipe for success. I wouldn't be surprised to see Matt as a guest star at some point, but from what you've posted, we probably won't be seeing Cody ever again, at least not in a Discovery production.
