I'm coming back to this show after couple seasons. This new guy, the red head seems so angry and hostile. Just not the same show

Yeah, there were times when Bill could sound reasonable. But he would need a lot of redemption if he was my partner. Remember their first meeting? Bill used their only match to see if the cave was safe to sleep in. Then they went fireless for the next couple nights. I would be very reluctant to just jump into his plans after that.
As to Matt, his pairing with Joe was the premise of the show (2 different survival approaches) on steroids. Joe was the "keep moving" military guy and Matt was the ultra laid back hippie. Matt was not only willing to spend an extra night here and there but probably would have been happy (and capable of) building a house and waiting for civilization to catch up with them. LOL
And Matt did have a couple "Bill moments." We all laughed at Bill chasing after the river chicken. But Matt did the same thing with a butterfly. Then there was the time when they got the hog. Joe wanted to rush in and finish it, but Matt wanted to let it die in peace. I thought that was kind of a strange idea. IMO, going in and finishing the hog quickly would have been the humane thing to do.
Not that I have anything against Matt. If I was in a survival situation, he's the guy I'd probably want to be with. But then again, I wouldn't necessarily be a "keep moving" kind of guy. I don't know how many times I've seen them in situations where I would have wanted to spend a day to recharge before hitting the trail again.

I think he was choosing to act angry in an attempt to emulate Joe.
Don't get me wrong, Bill could be annoying but I watched a few of the episodes from the marathon over the weekend and there were several times where Bill was more than rational and Grady just got angry for the sake of being angry.
In his defense, at times he had valid reasons to be angry. Much more so than Joe who looked like a psychopath when he would get angry around Matt. Who could get mad at someone like Matt who was always laid back and calm in bad situations.

Look at who he is partnered with. Bill could make Mother Theresa angry and hostile. LOL
