I mean, just look at those actors. It makes you realize the type of comedy we adjust ourselves to that you can just look at the actors in the photos and be able to determine just what type of person they are gonna play. From the looks of it, it's gonna try and mimic the Judd Appatow films. You've got the 4 main stock characters (I mean look at the chubby guy. Where in the original was there a chunky guy in the main 4 group? There was Big John but he wasn't in the main 4. Anyone got preconceived notions that he's gonna try to mimic Seth Rogen or Jonah Hill's acting styles?) and you've got yourself some pretty raunchy source material and seeing as how it's Americanized you can only imagine the direction it's gonna take. I was against this remake from day one and as more and more news comes along my opinion will stay put. Only good thing about this unneeded waste of air space is that the original creators are producers for this series. Either way, America should NEVER attempt British humor and should never touch a series that had nothing wrong with it to begin with.

I wish they'd stop using canned laughter in miranda it truly irks me (if she does another series)

America has a much higher budget than UK, so some of their shows are going to be bigger and more spectacular, the pilot episode of LOST probably cost more than the Inbetweeners movie.
This being said, UK put out some fantastic shows as do the US, i think a lot of people are quick to judge the US and brand them as not funny without actually watching them. I like Chuck, Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, but in my opinion none of them are as good as Inbetweeners, IT Crowd and Miranda.
In terms of drama the US come out with big shows like LOST, Prison Break, Heroes, which i think are decent shows but in America they do 20+ episode 'seasons', we have 6-10 episode series'. It's easier to write 6 fantastic episodes than 20. So i think yeah UK shows might appear better but I think that is 1 reason why. Sherlock is my favourite show at the moment, that was a short 3 episode series.

Anyway in terms of budgets and number of programmes made, our TV still comes out with a bigger ratio of decent stuff.
Exactly! Can you imagine how naff some of our dramas would be? Half of them would be censored and end up going from gritty to OTT.
Another thing Americans can never do well is costume drama, they are truly awful.

The thing with US comedy is that so much more of it is made, so it looks like there is loads of good stuff, and in England we get to cherry-pick the decent stuff.
Try watching American tv, especially a drama, and the sheer length and frequency of the advert breaks will render it unwatchable. You can pay an arm and a leg for special cable, but why should you, just to watch decent telly?
Anyway in terms of budgets and number of programmes made, our TV still comes out with a bigger ratio of decent stuff.
As for crap but popular stuff, 'American' Idol (Pop Idol), Dancing with the Stars (our programme re-badged), X Factor (ditto), etc, etc. So it's not just our good programmes they copy!
America, land of the fake boobs, leave The Inbetweeners alone.

MTV Skins remake was terrible but Shameless USA was good. I guess we have to wait and see, but I don't think it will be as good as the British one. I just have a feeling that it won't be as honest as the British one is.

I have to say, being from Canada and having no bias either way, that BOTH the UK and US put out some GREAT shows. Comedies AND dramas. And reality actually, (My fave show of all time is Top Gear, the Original UK version, the US one is OK, but pales in comparison)
However the US does produce MORE great shows, and thats simply because there are more outlets for them to do so. You should be proud of Brit TV, theres been and is now, a lot of good stuff. I think Extras and Spaced were two of the best comedies I've EVER seen, but man, the US has great shows too and more of them. Sunny, Modern Family, Community, Archer, just to name a few of them that are on right now. And if you can't laugh at at least one of those shows then there is something wrong with you.
As far as dramas go, yes Sherlock is an AMAZING show, but look to HBO and the like and you've got Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and more recently, Game Of Thrones which, in my opinion anyway, are some of the best shows ever, period.
Also I've always looked at UK to US crossovers as the same but yet different animals. Like, say, lions and tigers. Same but different. The first few series of Shameless were great TV, and the American version was definitely poorer, but still had something to offer and was enjoyable all the same. Same goes for Being Human. UK = GREAT, US = MEDIOCRE, but still enjoyable.
In the end, why can't people just enjoy both US and UK TV, as I do? Why do have to say one is better than the other?
THEY ARE BOTH GOOD!!!!

"American humor is not funny, they are unable to laugh at themselves or produce anything remotely as good as Britain"
What utter, utter garbage.
I'm British, and I'd happily admit that America does the best sitcoms.
30 Rock, Community, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, My Name Is Earl, Frasier, Seinfeld, Modern Family, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Parks & Recreation, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Louie and so on.
And it's not "PC" at all. Look at stuff on Showtime and HBO like Californication, Entourage, Eastbound & Down, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Larry Sanders Show or Dream On - all very good sitcoms and none are PC. There's swearing, nudity and very un-PC themes throughout.
You clearly know nothing about TV.

Louie is the most avant-garde, thought provoking, and all out humorous sitcom to exist in the last decade. The only thing that comes close is Peep Show.
It's clear you've never actually seen it, considering the crux of the show is all about self deprecation, something you claim Americans are incapable of.

I agree it will be awful and we shouldn't remake British comedies, but they are remade to make them more appealing to today's American audience. The originals are often aired in America and they don't get high ratings. Why? Maybe the accents? Maybe the cultural references? I'm not sure. I'm a fan of Peep Show, The Inbetweeners, Friday Night Dinner, The Whites, and Spaced to name a few, and hope they never get an American face lift.

Modern Family is the only (slightly) amusing show you have mentioned. In general U.S. ''comedy'' sucks. That's just my opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree with me. If u think UK comedy sucks, I don't give a beep and I certainly won't be getting my panties in a twist about it. There is no myth!, Americans can be funny but usually they aren't that is why people think this way. You have done your cause no favor by mentioning those beep shows should have gone with;
King of Queens - Funny
My Name is Earl - Funny
Everybody Hates Chris - Funny
I agree that in general U.S TV is much better(excluding sit-coms) however a FAR bigger budget will always enable this.
