James' first two jokes weren't that funny but his friends laughed at them (although halfheartedly) so I don't know why they didn't laugh at this one. Did he go too far? I honestly think it wasn't that bad.

None of the jokes were particularly funny, but when your gang leader makes lame jokes just to humiliate somebody you laugh at a couple, after that the joke is on your leader for taking it too far. It's bullies 101.
Also taking something too far in the UK can go downhill fast, you need to know when enough is enough or your last joke could see you bludgeoned to death with a shoe or a stuffed animal.

I was wondering about that too. It seemed random that they didn't laugh at that one, it was no meaner than the other stuff he'd been saying.
