I think that was fairly predictable - if not for all the right reasons.
Timing is good - a big film when people have time and are looking to do stuff together.
It's such a big franchise it has a momentum of it's own - it's event cinema.
Feels like ages since there was anything worth going to see at the cinema - unless you have small children to please.
It doesn't suck - it's not great but it's better than ok.

The Avatar movies have always had long legs on their theatrical runs. None of them had particularly impressive opening weekends but they also had much smaller drop offs than you normally see in successful movies.

I can imagine yourself sitting a long table filled with upper-class people. You are wearing a necklace gifted to you by a homeless-looking man. He is sitting opposite you. Your eyes meet. You raise your paw-like hand to your necklace and make a strange meowing noise.

The first one said everything that needed to said, and showed everything that needed to be shown. I don't remember a single thing about the second one and I won't be watching the third.
