Regardless of the movie's portrayal of waterboardingit worked!
Waterboarding DID successfully help the CIA track down Osama's courier, which eventually led to Osama himself.
Even Leon Panetta said so
http://bernardgoldberg.com/panetta-confirms-again-that-waterboarding-helped-get-bid-laden-media-still-confused/
And there's this juicy nugget

Of course. Some scientist told them so.
And when tortured, they immediately changed the conclusions that they came to.

"In 2014, the US Senate Select Committee published a report on the CIA's detention and interrogation program, offering a scathing analysis.
The report said that the "use of the CIA's enhanced interrogation techniques was not an effective means of obtaining accurate information or gaining detainee cooperation."
The 525-report, a brief summary of the 6,700 page document, was the result of a five-year investigation into detention and "enhanced interrogation techniques" used by the CIA against suspected terrorists in secret sites around the world.
It condemned the tactics as "deeply flawed" and often resulting to "fabricated information."
"Anyone who understands interrogation knows that more than 99% of interrogations are very successful even without using enhanced techniques," former US army counterintelligence special agent CJ Grisham, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, told CNN."
"The argument is that we're talking about these hardcore terrorists who are killing people. Hardcore terrorists aren't the ones on which torture works on, they'd rather die anyway."
"The only time these torture techniques work is when you catch a low level guy is mentally feeble and it works because he doesn't think it's worth it."

Waterboarding and outright torture generally work, and have worked many times in the thousands of years in use. It's currently politically correct to claim they do not work, but historically incorrect.
Live long and prosper.

Yes. It's only the naysayers that claim it doesn't work
If even only to the point that Ammar was so disoriented by the sessions that he was unaware he hadn't given up the Saudi Group, and because he though he had, he gave up more. That was the start of the long string to OBL.

It worked. And sadly it's inclusion is why the movie is only a 7.4 and not 8.4.
