Kathy Bates was more sympathetic than Queenie, or Tina Turner

Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — American Horror Story

First off I think that Coven is a fun binge. It pales to the realness of the prior season but it was to me more entertaining than the first season.
In that, I think that Tina Turner Voodoo Witch was way too "easy" a character. She could do so much, what would stop her from killing every white person on earth? She was too powerful…
In that, Kathy Bates playing the most notorious racist/murderer in New Orleans history (on this show anyhow) winds up very likable, protecting Queenie and even going to a fast food with her. Giving her advice, and… I'm not sure if they tried to make her seem to "come around" but for the most part I preferred her over Tina Turner the entire time.
Maybe it's that she's a good actress and can make antagonists fun (MISERY) or, who knows, but… I liked her better than "What's Voodoo Got to do with it", much better…
