Because Lee had time with FLora before she went back to Roanoke House, right? So if Flora saw her murder Mason (and the two times he's shoved her down during dramatizations makes me wonder if he wasn't abusive on his own part) thisNEVER came up? Lee confesses like Flora might not know on a tape but why would she have to if Flora saw it? And I don't buy FLora might be scared of her mom and never confronted her. She certainly never showed any fear of her when they got out.

There's no way Ryan Murphy would ever change his mind and change a character's arc mid-season. That's way too out of character for him.
