When the real Shelby talked about Edward Mott she said that he spoke to her and Matt and told them his name. He also was helpful about getting them out of the house through the tunnel. But when the three girls went through the tunnel and he appeared, he seemed frightening and non-verbal. Do you think it's because he was shot at or what? I just found it unusual that he was like that after Shelby said he helped them and talked to them.

Either 1. They lied about communicating with him or 2. He's pissed they returned, and with a whole cast and crew this time.

Somehow there are double threads on this subject. You may want to look at the othet thread to see what others have said. You could even copy and past your post to the thread. Below is my response copy and pasted:
Re: Why did Matt and Shelby lie about Edward Mott?
Matt seemed to know more about Mott in real lifd than he conveyed in his interview.
Lee says "Matt thinks that he prefers the tunnel."
When Lee says this to Monet and Audrey - they seemed surprised to not know this information.
Lee's statement makes it seem as though Matt more interaction with Mott than just the escape.
Why would Matt and Shelby leave these details out?
Matt says that their marriage was over when they moved into Sappony. Was Matt sleeping in the basement most of the time and not with Shelby? Was Matt with The Witch in the basement multiple times (the one time conscious interaction in the cellar never took place - Matt lied and told the story that way along with Shelby)?
archer,
You ask an interesting and probably important question.

Maybe its because they were dumb enough to keep coming back.

or they lied about him. Now that you mention it, why was he screaming at them if he had helped them earlier?
