This is a real return to form for the series and dare i even say that this may very well be their best season yet.
It thrilling through out, really suspensful and manages to keep you at the edge of your seat the entire time. What i love the most is that they are really reveling in the "horror" part of the title. It's creepy,it's distrubing and down right unsetting with non-stop scares. This is actually the first time since Asylum that i feel that the show is doing what it promised to do intiallyscare. And i think that it even trumps Asylum in this department.
Note : i didn't know how i felt when they revealed that only one will survive but after watching ep.7 ,having that in mind,i feel this info had a uge effect because i felt noone was safe. For instance,i really thought we would loose Shelby.
And the actorste actors are just incredible.Between Bated and Rabe, who are neck-and-neck as to who is the MVP(Bated edges Rabe out with ep.7),with their incredible performance we also have Paulson,Porter and Bassett also delivering.AAnd then we also get incredible perfroamnces from its guest stas.I really do think that the talented actors elevate the season even more.
Congratulation to everyone involved.I'm invested once again.

Completely agree. This season the characters are totally empty and devoid of any personality save for making stupid decisions. We had 3 of them napping while there was a crazed serial killer on the loose in their house last night!

I'd say it's a train wreck of a season and a visual showing of just what "writer's block" looks like. The entire "docudrama" angle might have been cool and unique a few years back, but now it just feels cliche and overly done. Murphy obviously at one point had talent, but like so many who managed to break into the big time because they impressed the right person with their work, he plateaued and is now running on fumes IMHO. The best thing about this season were the teasers leading up to it, any one of which would've been a better explored idea than the overdone "vengeful ghost" story.
Just my 2 cents.

I'd say it's the second most thrilling season, after Asylum.
It has several of the similar tense moments, but not as much polish and good writing as Season 2.

I'm loving what they did with this season as well. They lost me a bit with Hotel. I didn't even finish that season until months later after it aired. But this season has me hooked again. It'll will probably rank as one of my favorites of the entire show depending on how the next few episodes play out. But yes, I love it.

I totally agree. I love this season. I think the writing seems better as well. We aren't bogged down with too many storylines. Plus characters are dropping like flies! It really adds to the horror aspect and I really believe no character is safe.

Basically splitting the season into 2 parts has done it the world of good.
Even with just 10-12 episodes Ryan Murphy seemed to struggle keeping the storylines tight and interesting with the past seasons after the third or fourth episode whereas Roanoke has basically been 2 mini-seasons contained in 1.
Season 7 will have a lot to live up to!
