And I'm loving it. Those movies get a lot of sht from horror aficionados, but they were a big part of my childhood, so they'll always have a place in my heart.
The back half of this season seems like a big tribute to them: Not a lot of depth, but a ton of fun.

Locking a group of colorful characters in a "haunted house" (with cameras) was a popular theme of the 90s/early aughts too. Along with the "reality show unexpectedly becomes
reality
" narrative.
It reminded me of the House on Haunted Hill remake and that terrible Halloween sequel with Tyra Banks.

Yeah, I'm getting the Scream vibe too.
It's not bad.
I don't love it, but I don't hate it either.
Expecting many horror tropes to follow. They already started the splitting from the herd method from the old slasher films.
It's entertaining but there's so much meta it's like when you look into a mirror with another mirror behind you in a hotel bathroom.
Reflection of a reflection and on and on.
Bates part is especially weird.
I can imagine the cast is enjoying the hell out of it.
A way to mock your work without really mocking it and to be able to have a mini vacation on a work trip.
It'd be fun to do, like working in a haunted house for a season.
Much more fun to do for kicks and not because you simply need the gig for a paycheck.
I laughed hard at the 911 call more because of who the actors are than anything else.
No Quarter

Well, Cheyenne
is
essentially playing Gale Weathers.

The cool part is we're watching what would be a dumb "found footage" horror movie, but we have six episodes of backstory to care about the characters.
