Murphy said there are the first 5 episodes, the next 4 episodes, and then the finale are 3 different things. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing up to episode 9 is a scam and we find out the truth in episode 10. The only person we know is dead for sure is the one crew member. Mason's body could be anyone with Mason's DNA planted(or they could have just conspired to kill Mason together). Sidney and other players could have conspired with this for years.

The WHOLE ENTIRE "Return to Roanoake"
could
be a hoax on us, staged as a "found footage where nobody survived" horror movie a-la Blair Witch. We may get to the end and the last episode will tell us that this was a successful movie and was planned all along and nobody died.
